Building Your Toolkit

Before you undertake any projects you will need to set aside a workspace and invest in some tools and materials. Below you can see my workspace and find my 'virtual tool' kit with recommendations as to where to buy as well as some $$$ saving alternatives.

Finding a space....

It is important that you set up a workspace so that you have somewhere for your projects to stay out of the way. I am really lucky as I have a friend with a massive shed who also likes to upcycle so most of my projects live there...out of the way.

When I started I only had my dining room or living room -these work fine if you don't have kids or pets and don't mind having mess around! For extra messy jobs I highly recommend an outside space!

Your space will need:

A table or bench - you don't want to have to kneel or squat while painting. It hurts.

Protection for floor (or furniture). Drop sheets are best but old sheets and towels work well floor at a pinch.
